Did You Know Cats Have 4



Did you know that cats have a total of 18 toes, with five toes on each fore paw, and four toes on each hind paw; polydactyl cats may have as many as eight digits on their front and/or hind paws. Polydactyl cats have 28 toes, was recognised by Guinness World Records as having the highest number of toes on a cat.

While a dog normally has four toes on the ground per foot, each with a claw. A higher vestigial toe, known as a dewclaw, is also normal on a foreleg. Some dogs have this dewclaw on their hindlegs, and a double rear dewclaw is standard for a few breeds, eg Briard, Pyrenean Mountain Dog.
