Stop! & Consider 4 Ideas Before Surrendering Your Animal
This weekend I was Blessed to be amongst beautiful animals just waiting for their forever home. As a volunteer, my time spend is offering Reiki to either dogs, cats, gerbals, and or rabbits at BHS. Reiki helps decrease the anxiety of being in a shelter environment for many have experienced phyiscal or emotional abuse, trauma and or abandonment.
Too many times, pet parents surrender their pet unaware of the many resources available to them. Thinking that a pet will have a better chance of survival on the street! They won't!
Of course the best solution is to have the pet stay with the family or individual, for many pet related problems are solvable!
Here are 4 suggestions for people and their families some alternatives, including temporary solutions until they can get their feet back on the ground.
1. Are there any additional family members outside of the home, or friends that are willing to make their home a forever loving home for the animal? Ok, if not, then the PetCo Foundation has a program offers an online Re-Home Service.
2. Make an appointment with your veternarian! If the animal is 'misbehaving' there could be an underlying physical issue which can be addressed with concrete answers.
3. If it's a financial or living arrangements issue, there are local Animal Care & Shelter Programs to help and advise. Here is a link that can provide a good resource and a place to start is Animal Humane Society:
4. Consider Alternative Medicine for your animal: Accupunture, Holistic Veterinarians, Reiki, Crystal Healing, Phytotherapy, Physiotherapy, Homeopathy, and Aromatherapy just to name a few.
I hope this provides you and or someone you know with a level of hope and understanding that there are alternatives. Like people, our animals are a part of our life and when there is any level of disruption, it leads to more imbalances, and not just for the person, but for their pet! So please take heart...
Feel free to offer any other additional suggestions below for our readers. Also, please share, for this may help someone who is in need and could make a decision that could have been solved!
